Trident Sustainability Group announces a new LEED certification – Effingham Career Academy in Rincon, GA.
The Effingham Career Academy achieved LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council, and is the Effingham Board of Education’s first LEED certified project, as well as the first public school in the region to achieve LEED certification. Trident Sustainability Group served as the LEED consultant for the project.
The new school provides an opportunity to learn career skills for students, who can now do so in a green environment. Numerous sustainable features were included such as a 30 kw solar system, low flow plumbing fixtures, super efficient lighting tied to occupancy sensors, and low emitting finishes were used throughout.
“Green schools should be a no-brainer – students are in a better learning environment, and ongoing costs are much lower”, said Tommy Linstroth, Principal of Trident Sustainability Group. “Achieving Gold certification was certainly above what was expected. My hat is off to the Effingham School Board for taking a leadership position for high-performance, healthy school buildings for our children.”
The architect for the project was JW Buckley and Associates, and the general contractor was Lavender and Associates.
